6 Ways to Make Your Trade Show Display Stand Out From the Rest
There are a variety of trade shows, expos, and conventions in Utah, from the Salt Lake Off-Road Expo to FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™. Amidst all the other booths and your competitors, how do you make your booth stand out from the rest? Here are a few tips you can follow to make sure you get noticed in the right way.
1. Stay in Your Branding Guidelines
If you have a number of pieces on display, make sure that everything you’ve printed follows your own branding guidelines. Put your company’s logo and name on every piece and keep the style consistent so that people who visit your booth can recognize it from a distance. A consistent brand makes your display more memorable and easy to find.
2. Add Color to Make It Pop
A good design with the right colors can make your design stand out from the rest. While you can’t predict the color schemes of the booths around you, you can use bright colors that catch people’s eyes, regardless of the color schemes of your competitor’s booths. Here are a few tips you can use to make your display stay consistent and stand out.
- Create a theme that matches your mission. If your company focuses on being eco-friendly, a green and blue color scheme can actively convey that message even without words.
- Use your brand’s colors, but don’t be afraid to branch out. Consistently using your brand’s colors can make it easier to recognize your business. However, using a color that contrasts with your brand can draw the attention of visitors to your booth to parts of the display you want them to notice.
3. Make a Good First Impression
The first impression is everything. If your visuals can’t explain succinctly what it is that you do in that first impression, people may not stop by your booth. To make a good first impression, show your potential customers exactly what your company does in your:
- Banner copy
- Images
- Logos and branding
- Banner design
Text that’s too small to read from far away or colors that don’t fit your brand or style may accidentally dissuade your audience from checking out your booth. A well-designed banner can draw the attention of your audience and show that visiting your booth would be worth their time.
4. Engage With Your Audience
Add an element in the design for someone to interact with your booth. Whether it’s a backdrop for photos or a display that tells your brand’s story, get people interested and excited to learn about what you do! Don’t forget to create a branded hashtag to use on social media! Engaging with people makes your audience more likely to remember you later. Plus, if they post about you on social media, it makes it that much easier to interact with those you met after the trade show.
5. Hand Out Free Stuff
Trade shows are an amazing networking opportunity, so give a little bit of your brand for your potential customers to take home with them. Make your gift useful and something people can actually use, such as a phone pop sticker or a water bottle so people don’t just throw it away when they get home. Make sure to put your company’s name or logo on the gift so your contact remembers who they got the free stuff from.
6. Use Your Space Effectively
It’s not enough to have one banner at your booth. Make sure to have a variety of materials to best represent your company, but don’t make it too busy or too sparse. Utilize space effectively to make it easier for someone to come to your booth without feeling too crowded. When considering how to use your space, make sure to follow the size guidelines set by the event. Some expos and trade shows require you to submit your banner designs beforehand and get them approved, so make sure to get the design done early! If you don’t have an in-house graphic designer choose a print shop with in-house graphic designers that can help prep the files you’re printing.
